Ulf Synnerholm
With a degree in film theory and literature from the University of Stockholm, and a professional background as program coordinator at theStockholm International Film Festival, member of the editorial staff of the Swedish film magazines, Cinema and Film Premiär, and head of Atmosphere Media, his own distribution company, Ulf Synnerholm joined Wegelius Animation in 1995. Working initially with the development and preparation of The Three Friends... and Jerry, an animated TV series that was pre-bought by the FOX Family Channel in the US, Ulf went on to play a key role in seeing the series through to final delivery. Based on the success of the first season, FOX commissioned a second season that went on to be sold in over 40 countries. Since 1997, the year Wegelius Animation changed its name to Happy Life, Ulf has been a member of the company’s management team and has played a leading role in transforming Happy Life into one of Europe’s leading animation companies.
In 2000, Ulf became the General Manager of ColorPop, a sister company that handles the production needs of Happy Life, and where preparations have just gotten underway for the feature film Captain Sabertooth as well as the TV series, Microphonies and CreepSchool. The idea is for ColorPop to take on assignments from Happy Life as well as other unaffiliated companies with the goal of creating original, high-quality animation for a wide audience. Other major Happy Life productions include the TV series The World of Tosh, and Pettson & Findus feature films and TV series.
For the past two years Ulf has been the creative producer for the TV series Da Möb, a co-production between Happy Life, Millimages (Fr) and Quintus Animation (UK) for FOX Family/ABC Family (US) and Sky 1 (UK). Da Mob is together with The Three Friends... and Jerry and Lisa (26x6) for HBO Family, the third co-production Happy Life have produced for a North American broadcaster.
