Rieke Müller-Kaldenberg

Rieke Müller-Kaldenberg Born near Saarbrücken in Germany as the third and youngest daughter of a doctor, Rieke Müller-Kaldenberg was educated at the highschool in Saarbrücken and at the University of Heidelberg. Müller-Kaldenberg studied German literature, Sociology and political science.

Müller-Kaldenberg’s first job was an editor in radio drama at Saarländischer Rundfunk, a small regional station of the ARD. ARD is the public broadcasting corporation of the Federal Republic of Germany, made up of 10 independent regional broadcasters operating under state law.

After some years as freelancer and reviewer for some German newspapers like Süddeutsche Zeitung a.s.o., Müller-Kaldenberg worked for many years for SWR, a big station in the south of Germany, as head of Drama, TV Movies and Entertainment and for Children Programmes.

Since 1998 Müller-Kaldenberg has served as managing director of Family and Service Programmes including Children Programmes for SWR and the ARD.

Müller-Kaldenberg specializes in developing a new brand for the Children Programmes of DAS ERSTE and KIKA, the public children’s channel in Germany, and to invent new formats for live action shows for children between 9 and 13.

Müller-Kaldenberg attributes her success to her husband Michael and her son Marc for their help and support during the last decades. Müller-Kaldenberg has also written some non-fiction books.
