Ian Fairweather
Ian Fairweather was appointed Nickelodeon’s General Manager in March 2000. Ian is responsible for the overall direction of Nickelodeon Australia, currently seen in over one million households making it available to over 3 million viewers Australia wide via FOXTEL AND AUSTAR. He manages all aspects of the Channels operation, including creative, programming and production, marketing and communications, advertising sales, and finance.
Since Ian began his career as an on-air children’s presenter at Nine Network Adelaide, South Australia, he has built a resume which is insurmountable in quality and devotion to children’s entertainment in Australia. His experience ranges from creator and producer of classics such as "Here’s Humphrey" and "The Curiosity Show", to his ten years as Head of Children’s Television at Network Ten. Whilst at Ten he bought, developed and executively produced such winners as the internationally distributed Australian children’s drama series’ "Miraculous Mellops", "Mirror Mirror" and "Ocean Girl". As a member of the Children’s Program Committee of the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal, Ian was integral in developing and refining broadcast policy for Children’s television, now administered by the Australian Broadcasting Authority.
Nickelodeon Australia has been at the forefront of Pay TV’s domination of kids viewing since the advent of Pay TV. The Channel currently holds the number one spot for traffic to Australian-made kids’ websites, receives thousands of letters and emails monthly and regularly attracts thousands of kids to its events across the country.
